CV | Google Scholar | Research Gate

Cody Ritt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Colorado–Boulder. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from Yale University as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow in 2022 under the mentorship of Prof. Meny Elimelech. He then joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to work with Prof. Michael Strano as a Postdoctoral Associate. At MIT, he served as the Executive Officer for the Center for Enhanced Nanofluidic Transport—a DOE-funded Energy Frontier Research Center. Cody received the 2023 Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors for his work on fundamental membrane transport and nanofluidic phenomena at the Water–Energy Nexus. During this time, he also co-founded the Open Membrane Database, the first-ever centralized archive for desalination membranes. Since joining CU Boulder in 2026, Prof. Ritt’s lab focuses on exploiting nanofluidic phenomena to design smarter separations materials for advanced water purification, resource recovery, and sustainable energy technologies.
