The Nanofluidic Separations Lab

We explore nanofluidics to design smarter separations materials and systems.
By understanding how molecules behave when confined, our lab pioneers new foundations for water purification, resource recovery, and energy systems that help build a more sustainable world.

Our Mission

Exploring nanofluidics to design smarter separations materials and systems

By integrating precision nanofluidic platforms throughout the design process for novel nanoporous materials, the Ritt Lab, also known as the Nanofluidic Separations (NanoSep) Lab, seeks to develop synthesis–structure–performance relationships that translate from the molecular to the macroscopic scale and enable sustainable separations for water and energy applications. Our goal is to engineer bottom-up solutions to complicated separation problems.

Why This Work Matters

Using separation science guided by curiosity and the courage to explore the unknown, we will unlock water and energy technologies that are cleaner, more efficient, and enable circular resource economies for the planet.
